Stephanie Desanges

Board Officer

My name is Stephanie Desanges, a full-time Social Worker and a Certified Life Coach who focuses on Self-Care,  Work-Life Balance, and Women’s Empowerment. I  graduated from Rutgers University with a Masters in Social Work (MSW) and Montclair State University with a Masters in Child Advocacy and Policy (CHAD).

My career as a social worker challenges my beliefs, my faith, and my true strength in both my professional and personal life. Like everyone else, I find myself analyzing my progress and questioning my decisions. In a world full of overwhelming societal biases, I learned that it is acceptable to shift your focus and develop new habits to maintain your goals.

Being a Haitian -American, I get the opportunity to learn about my culture, but my passion to work and work for change. As a young woman, whose parents migrated from Haiti 40 years ago, I've always connected to my roots. I’ve been grounded in family, culture, and community for as long as I can remember. To be on the founding board of DeAngels Foundation, I feel like I am truly living out my ancestors' dreams.

My passion for awareness and change comes from a life-long obsession with making things reasonable and fair to me, the Haitian community, my family, and my legacy. From a young age, I have always tried to bring awareness to Haiti and ensure that my friends are educated about the truths and realities that we as a people are still faced with.

My hope is that through conversation, exposure, and real-life experiences we can bring change to Haiti and the great history that it belongs to.
